I think NVMe-of, and with VMWares support of it, will also change how NAS solutions are able to be used in small and medium sized businesses, and how it wont just be a storage option, but move toward a composable architecture as well.

They also have the capability for block-level backups, integrate with virtualization, have their own hypervisor, and can integrate with fibre network environments with up to 20-40Gb. (via aggregated SFP+)

This article is more accurate if comparing consumer NAS models or devices from other manufacturers.
