Good reminder to mind the client contract! I can imagine it takes so work to make sure each client project is handled appropriately. Did you use some kind of automation to ensure this, or did whoever did the archiving have to know that Client A wants their data scrubbed after x date, but Client B doesn’t?

Some things may contain sensitive information and with various data protection laws sooner or later there will be this one client who does random checks to see if you truly deleted their data when the contract ended. It did happen to us, and believe me it’s better to say you don’t have something any more. The alternative is spending several stressful months explaining why you kept something you weren’t supposed to.
