Your openness is the main reason I use you for backups. The price was pretty compelling too. Computer enthusiasts and IT professionals greatly appreciate this.

I can’t trust when companies either hide their prices, infrastructure, or make it convoluted enough were I have no idea what I’m paying until it begins. I also want to know the infrastructure – that’s only fair, right? What exactly are you doing with my data?

Backblaze delivers.

In the past, it’s always been Hitachi/HGST out in the lead by miles for reliability, but the gap has all but disappeared.

That’s good for Backblaze and also good for us consumers. More options, better reliability, tighter competition? The customer is the winner in the end.

Model: MQ01ACF050
Drive Rev: AAD AA00/AV001D
These drives were used in Dell Optiplex 3030 AIO computers that are on 24/7

Most of them have failed in less than three years (under warranty). This manufacturer has a larger failure rate than any drive I have seen. Dell has been replacing them with Western Digital drives.

At this point, I would still bought Toshiba’s and WDC’s – just for the sake of research (yes, I can boldly say that) – about what You are currently doing. Screw the ‘profitability’ aspect, and act as: ‘The only one’s that publish this type of info’ :).

Your company name echoes around the World due .. no … ‘thanks to’ those reports. They are crucial to all of us. Pace of change and importance of the data that ‘digital life’ brought, requires need for reliability and such can only be pushed forward when OEM’s will understand how important it is from their client’s perspective to have their assets (digital) safely stored.

I find the opposite to be true. Placing a beer on top of a hard drive heats up the beer. So I still prefer to put the beer in the fridge instead of on top of a hard drive. ;-)
