@RealQuentin I think he’s backing up using Arq to Backblaze’s B2 service, not using the Backblaze consumer backup service.

Hi Michael – yes, there are lots of blinking lights! Here’s a somewhat recent post about it, and it links off to some previous ones -> https://www.backblaze.com/blog/day-life-datacenter-part/.

That can absolutely be the case – if you notice anything wrong with your system, we recommend you do a restore immediately, we’ll even ship you a hard drive w/ all the data on it so if you need to reinstall your operating system, your data can be waiting for you! Here’s some more info on the restore process -> https://www.backblaze.com/restore.html.

Is there one of these neat OPS centers with screens and blinky lights everywhere? :)

For the more technical – any details on how this farm of servers is operated (network monitoring, configuration management, snmp or other agents, etc.. ) would be awesome.

The only thing that could be improved is the retention time of deleted files: 30 days is a little bit short nowadays, where a ransomware could crypt your data a long time before becoming active.

Hey! I’m not seeing anything missing or hidden on my end, do you remember some of the questions? I see a thread with you in it below regarding Arq, but nothing removed!

Jason – that’s correct – as long as the data is on your computer we will keep a backup copy of it, if the data/drive is removed we’ll also remove our copy after 30 days. If you lose a drive we recommend that you create a restore as quickly as possible. We have a lot of different options (https://www.backblaze.com/restore.html) for restores, and you can even get a refund if you send us back the hard drive (if you choose to restore using that method).
