as SMART 187: Reported_Uncorrectable_Errors is analized, but the other 4 are left out!

Not all attributes get implemented by the vendors. What’s the make and model of your drive?

https://serverfault.com/questions/313649/how-to-interpret-this-smartctl-smartmon-data

> For Seagate disks (and possibly some old ones from WD too) the Seek_Error_Rate and Raw_Read_Error_Rate are 48 bit numbers, where the most significant 16 bits are an error count, and the low 32 bits are a number of operations.

So the article is wrong when it says about SMART 1 that

> non-zero values are worse

because any number < 4294967296 simply counts the number of operations for Seagate drives and means "0 errors".

You said in a previous article that you like how you can tell when a Seagate drive is about to die by the SMART readout. Is there a particular stat on this particular drive I should look out for?

There is a program called DriveDx [https://binaryfruit.com/] that lists 17 selected SMART indicators for these drives. These indicators do NOT include SMART 187 or 188. Does this mean the drive is not reporting these indicators or I need a new/better program that will read them? If so, do you know a MAC program that will read these stats?

Could be a big market for something like that.

All we can do is guess, since they did not share this data (seems it was left out on purpose). From looking at the SMART data they did post (https://www.backblaze.com/blog-smart-stats-2014-8.html) this would be my best guess on the other 4

SMART 5: Reallocated_Sector_Count
1-4 keep an eye on it, more than 4 replace

SMART 188: Command_Timeout
1-13 keep an eye on it, more than 13 replace

SMART 197: Current_Pending_Sector_Count
1 or more replace

SMART 198: Offline_Uncorrectable
1 or more replace
