We certainly understand that our service isn’t for everyone. Wish you the best in finding a provider that meets your needs!

You make my point for me. Who is really running Backblaze? Clear, its a group of far left employees that “management” does not challange.

To put this in context, Google had an AI development contract with the Department of Defense. Amazon Web Services had service contracts with a number of municipal police departments. In both cases, employees objected to serving those clients. And in both cases, the manage backed the employees and drop the contracts, paying penalties.

If I were a fossil fuel company, a defense contractor, a police department, a conservative social network, or any of many many other, the time will come when your far left employees would object to doing business with me. And it is established that Backblaze management will go along with the employees.

You say that you will back up data for anyone. Google and AWS not only said that, they signed contracts. And then defaulted with their employees wanted.

You cannot be consider a reliable supplier.

The irony is that I was on you web site to sign up for service when I saw this post. I’m not far left, so I don’t think I can take the risk.

We have a very diverse group of people that work at Backblaze, and have a very strict discrimination policy when it comes to hiring and promoting. Like the post mentioned, this came from the engineering team in an open forum and found unanimous agreement, so it seemed like a no brainer to us!

By officially adopting the far left definition of “inclusive” and adopting critical race theory, you are sending a strong message that anyone who is politically center to right is not wanted in your organization. Knowing this, I would not apply for a job with your company as I know that, as a libertarian, I am not wanted there. Tying your company to the far left is more dangerous that I think you realize.

For consistency you should change all “server” terminology, since “servus” is a slave in Latin. Should you also support the renaming of “Master-chief” character? Or change designation for “Master-arm” switch in a warplane cockpit? What about “master class” or “master swordmanship”?

We’re sorry that we eroded your trust Max and to see you go. These changes are completely transparent to the end user, but were important for your engineering team to address, so we stand by them.

Yep… I don’t need it, but I’d been recommending it to my clients.

Well, at least they were transparent about it.

This is so true. For a company that handles potentially a lot more of their customers data than most, especially archived old stuff, this kind of activity is absolutely inappropriate as it erodes trust. For my parents backup solution that I manage I might still keep backblaze but I don’t need my personal account that much (the sync is unreliable and non-completing even though I have just 3 local hard drives) so I will be cancelling it.

Marc – I believe we just use “Main” – and branch – but I’m double checking!
