I would like to mention that in the article you say that admin credentials can extract ALL credentials from Active Directory – I don’t believe that is true. Active Directory account credentials are encrypted, and no one can easily extract them – that’s why AD Admins have to reset passwords and not look them up for end-users.

I’m also interested in this. Currently, I use a Synology NAS connected to backblaze for sync, which in turn it keeps file versioning in check, but I’m not aware of object lock function . ( I also sync to OneDrive and manually, as an offsite backup to a hard drive )

What about consumer NAS with B2? Does it have Object Lock function?

Depending on your infrastructure, you may be able to achieve affordable protection for your data. For computers, our unlimited Computer Backup with Extended Version History can prevent ransomware from deleting files within your backups. For servers, both Arq and Veeam are fully integrated with Backblaze B2 and support Object Lock natively. Additionally, since Object Lock is offered through both our B2 and S3 APIs, most solutions can integrate with Backblaze B2 and offer immutable backups as a feature through their APIs.

With our Computer Backup product, the backed up files can not be modified or deleted for 30 days. If you increase retention with Extended Version History, you can extend that protection for a year or for an unlimited timeframe.

Are you aware of any malware targeting BB backups?
